#BwetaLaUhalifu, sad state of affairs at #KNH

#KanaliSpeaks

On July 24th, K24 aired Bweta La Uhalifu, one of the most disturbing investigative piece about the sad state of the biggest referral hospital in Kenya, the Kenyatta National Hospital.

It was so sad to watch patients struggle on their own with some even having stayed for more than three days without being attended to.

After watching the piece by Purity Mwambia one wonders, has KNH become a death chamber where doctors or nurses watch as patients die? Those were very shocking revelations about the hospital. Is it that the KNH staff are reluctant or just lazy?

#KOT, will #StopHatespeechKenya bear fruits?

Yesterday, The ministry of ICT unveiled a new hashtag,#StopHatespeechKenya, to help tone down the viral nature of hate messages that has been spreading all over the internet in recent days.

During the unveiling, the Director of Public Communications Mary Ombara said the ministry was seeking ways of popularizing the hashtag to ensure hate messages are kept at bay.

The hashtag is already live on Facebook and Twitter and will soon be popularized on other platforms.

After ensuring that the last  general election went off peacefully, the country’s authorities came under criticism for failing to curb the wave of hate speech that spread over the internet.

Ethnic animosities were voiced on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, and the government did nothing about it.

Well, will the new #StopHatespeechKenya bear any fruits? Join the conversation on twitter and facebook.

How peaceful will be the #Saba Saba rallies?

#KanaliSpeaks

Tension is building up in parts of the country as Monday Saba Saba day, the day set for the rally called by Cord to push the government to accept talks draws closer.

According to an article published in the Daily Nation, In Naivasha, some families fled their homes fearing for their safety after hate leaflets were circulated in the town.

And in Kisumu, where Cord is to hold a meeting on Saturday, business people were apprehensive and said they would not stock up for the weekend shopping.

According to the article, On Wednesday, Kisumu traders expressed discomfort over the rally planned there for the weekend. The traders say they are reluctant to add more stocks in their shops because they are uncertain about the aftermath of the Saba Saba rallies which are expected to culminate in Nairobi on Monday.

Ole Lenku booed in Mpeketoni

Going through today Standard Digital and this story just caught my eyes. According to the story, Interior CS Joseph Olenku received a hostile reception this morning at Mpeketoni where he had gone to assess how things are after the Mpeketoni attacks.

According to the article, Lenku who was accompanied Ispector General of police David Kimaiyo, Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo among other leaders were booed when they landed in the area and tried addressing the locals.

Well, this is not strange, what do you expect? Every one is now just tired of Ole Lenku and the IG.

As my friend posted on his facebook  page

Jubilee is a hopeless government that should go home and let other people come and govern. How can bloodthirsty goons strike twice in as many days and devastate Mpeketoni without being challenged by security personnel. If there is no swift overhaul of the top security management team, there is no reason why all Kenyans should not join CORD in demanding that Uhuru and Ruto go home”

Does this country have  internal security? I guess not. The security system is a hopelessly incompetent network that has become a bribe-collecting machine that long forgot its core duty. That is why Al Shabaab or otherwise, can come into the country, show more organization than our police and systematically massacre Kenyans then leave at their leisure.

Should the top security organs be sent parking? Share your thoughts.
